Roofing Tips
To increase the life of your roof, be sure to
keep debris off of it. Clean out leaves and other debris from gutters and
valleys. Debris can allow water to get underneath shingles.
Make sure your roofing contractor is licensed
and insured. Check with your state on the status of their license before
hiring them.
Get a contract in writing from your roofer
showing how much the job will cost. Never pay the entire amount up front.
Many roofing companies will require a down payment but reputable companies
will not require that everything is paid up front.
Get several bids and ask your roofers for
references. Be sure to follow up and actually call those references.
Your roofer should get all of the necessary
permits required to do the work. When you get your written contract, make
sure this is included.
Beware of con artists. Most roofing companies
are honest but their are some crooks. Use caution of bids that are
considerably lower than others or contractors who knock on your door
claiming to have leftover product from another job. |
